This week marks a new chapter in space exploration for NASA. Friday will see the final launch for the space shuttle program. During this week Elmo will be at NASA as part of a filming for Sesame Street programming to learn more about NASA and space exploration.

On Thursday Elmo will join selected NASA twitter followers that will be a part of a question and answer session will include astronauts. The 150 NASAS twitter followers from several states and also include countries from around the globe.

The final launch will take place on Friday at 11:26 am from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Over the years Sesame Street has included astronauts in its educational programming. In the video below you can see an astronaut as part of a countdown that teaches young viewers how to count backward from ten.

Although this is the last shuttle launch, this is not the last time for space exploration.
