Contractions had Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon heading to the hospital yesterday. The couple is expecting the arrival of their twins this spring. According to people.com, Carey and Cannon are now home from the hospital with twins still gestating in the womb. Carey said that her baby boy and baby girl have a few more weeks before the twins are born.
According to the March of Dimes, the average gestation period for twins is 35 weeks, while the average gestation period for a singleton pregnancy is 39 weeks. Just like there are singleton pregnancies that go beyond 39 weeks, there are twin pregnancies that go beyond 35 weeks.
No word on far along Carey is in her pregnancy. The only clues given have been that the babies have a few more weeks and that she is due this spring.
