Once again, watchers of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be able to see many of their favorite Sesame Street characters riding on floats or through the air as large balloons.   As in previous years, the parade will take place in New York City on Thanksgiving Day and will air nationally on NBC.      Many in the area start waiting before 6 a.m. to get a good spot to watch the parade as it kicks off at 77st and Central Park.   The parade begins at Central Park and then makes it way down 6th Ave before ending in front of the Macy’s Herald Square.      Those in the city can watch the parade several places along the parade route.

This parade will include many different performers and displays that include some of pop culture’s favorite characters.    Sesame Street will have their presence there with many others.  This year they will have the float 1-2-3 Sesame Street.  This is the 37th consecutive year that the float will appear in the parade.     A former regular Muppet on Sesame Street, Kermit the Frog, will be seen floating high above for the 11th year.   According to parade website, this Kermit balloon will float a little over 50 feet high, and measure 40 feet long and 30.5 feet high.  These Muppets will be joined with other fun characters, clowns, marching bands in this annual tradition.
