For years young children have been sitting down to watch Sesame Street and expected to see the cute furry Muppet as part of the “Elmo’s World” segment.  This season marks an end to any new “Elmo’s World.”  You will not miss out on their daily dose of Elmo because he has a new segment called “Elmo: the Musical” which will consist of an 11 minute musical edutainment.  Sesame Street has previously begun incorporating STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) curriculum in each of the episodes that air everyday on most PBS stations.  Now, this season they will expand the STEM curriculum to include art and in what they have now coined as their STEAM curriculum.  “Elmo: The Musical” is one part of including art in STEAM.  The segment aims to teach children in a cross curriculum way about how art is created and produced with the use of science, technology, and math.   You will get to see the new segment for yourself when the 43rd season of Sesame Street begins on September 24th.
